Primary Health Care (PHC) plays a crucial role in promoting equity and reducing inequalities in access to healthcare in Brazil, operating predominantly through the Unified Health System (SUS). This study reviews the impact of PHC on reducing regional and socioeconomic disparities, highlighting advances and persistent challenges. The analysis covers the expansion of the Family Health Strategy (ESF), regional and quality inequalities, professional training, financing and integration with other levels of care. It is concluded that, despite progress, continuous investments and improvements in coordination and financing are necessary to maximize the impact of PHC in reducing health inequalities.
