TREATMENT OF COMMUNITY-ABSORBED PNEUMONIA: CURRENT PROTOCOLS AND EMERGING CHALLENGES

Abstract

Introduction: Community-acquired pneumonia is a respiratory infection acquired outside the hospital environment and is one of the main causes of global morbidity and mortality. Objective: To analyze the current protocols for the treatment of community-acquired pneumonia. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review. For data collection, the PubMed database was consulted and the descriptors "Pneumonia", "Treatment", "Therapeutic approaches" were used, combined with the Boolean operator "AND". Conclusion: Advances in the treatment of community-acquired pneumonia have improved therapeutic efficacy, with new antibiotic options and more accurate diagnostic methods.
